This past week the United States Student Association held their annual National Student Congress in Madison, Wisconsin to discuss the REAL issues that affect students, as well as vote on the campaigns and issues that will pave the way for the upcoming school year for the organization! Thanks to the External Vice President of Statewide Affairs office, 10 students represented UCSB at this conference. These students acted as a delegation that authored, discussed, and voted on resolutions, policies, and actions. The campaigns that were settled on after a long twenty-one hour meeting include: Student Loan Forgiveness, the Passing of the Federal DREAM Act and Stopping Secure Communities From Targeting DREAMers, and Legislating Shared Governance: Equal Say Because We Pay! Throughout the upcoming school year, UCSB will be putting these campaigns into ACTION, alongside other schools throughout the nation!
In addition, three of our delegates will now also be representing UCSB on USSA’s Board of Directors! Congratulations Marlene Moreno, Nancy Gama-Rodriguez, and Gloria Campos, keep up the amazing work!
